Ever notice how watches have slowly become obsolete amongst us young people? Well, that's because we have our phones to tell us what time of day it is. I'm sure everyone has at least one calendar in their homes that's probably still stuck in July 2019. Of course you do, and why? Because our phones do it all!
From the comfort of my bed, I was able to schedule an appointment for an eye exam with the Vision Center. Ahh, technology! The scheduling of the eye exam was fast and easy (Schedule your Eye Exam Online). I was on Facebook at the time, the thought crossed my mind so I looked up the page and followed the link to the website. Once on the website, there's an automatic pop up prompting you to schedule your eye exam. The whole process took about three minutes and was fairly simple; they even have an option to pay via credit card or paypal for your convenience. Almost immediately, with utmost efficiency, I got an email from the Vision Center confirming my appointment.
Appointment day arrives and I get two reminders via email, professionalism at its finest! I had no trouble finding the building as it is centrally located with available parking and Vision Center signage being very visible, it isn't hard to miss. Upon entry, I was asked to sanitize my hands, safety first! I then spoke to one of the Optician's Assistants who instructed me to fill in my pre-exam information. While waiting for the assistant to finish with a client, I admired the large variety of eyewear and glasses the Vision Center has on display. After a very short wait, I got escorted to the back for the usual dance of eye tests. It was then I met the Optometrist Mr. Emert, he greeted me and immediately asked how long my mask was in use. I assured him that it was a new one and he assured me that the machine I was about to use had been thoroughly sanitized. Although I figured everything was already sanitized it felt good being reassured by the optometrist.
The vision test went smoothly, Mr. Emert walked me through the whole process. He was clear with his explanations and he made sure that I was comfortable throughout the whole exam. After the exam, Mr. Emert let me know that my eyes were healthy; he then gave me my diagnosis. Since I already wear glasses, he recommended I try the Acuvue Oasys Contacts for Astigmatism. He also suggested that I use both types of eyewear, my glasses, and the contact lenses for when I want to dazzle people with my beautiful eyes.
Once the vision test was over, Mr. Emert walked me out and left me in the very capable hands of the Optician. The Optician then began to ask me what style I had in mind for a new pair of glasses, any specific color, or what material I preferred. Now, I'm a person who appreciates when someone is on point and everyone at the Vision Center is. I tried on two pairs and realized that on my third try, I found the one. I tried on about four more but kept going back to lucky number three. While trying on frames, I noticed that each one I tried on, did not go back on display. When I asked what the reason was for doing this, I was told that they needed to be sanitized before going back on display and that this has been a standard health practice before Covid-19.
From reading my file, the Optician saw the recommendation for the Acuvue Oasys Contact Lenses. She then proceeded to give me more information about the different types of contact lenses and their different functions like Daily wear, Weekly, Monthly and even Transition for sun.
After the info session, the Optician updated my file and told me that everything is ready for when I'm willing to proceed with payments. She gave me a business card and thanked me for coming in and we parted ways. The entire exam took about 20 mins and the experience was a nice one, from the hygiene protocols to the wealth of information given on different types of eyewear, the Vision Center on Bush Rd is certainly the way to go.
